May Fly
Dragonfly in body, butterfly in spirit
Delicate veined wings of sea glass
A thread-like tail that curves in the breeze
In groups, you cover porches, windows and eaves
A loosely knitted sweater
Alerting fisherman that it's time to leave
In the north-country, your arrival is usually May
Today it is July and surprise!
You are alone on my window
A short dainty life only minutes, sometimes a day
I watch closely and can't help but feel grace
You are the fleeting nature of life amplified
Momentarily I am distracted, when I glance again
You are gone, blown away without a trace
